DESIGN BRIEF

The clients Brief was to Create a Single storey Resort Style home with a open plan living, opening up to the canal at the rear, with high 3300mm ceiling. The client wanted an elevated entry foyer to see the water at the rear from the front door.

The pool area was to be up at the house level and to be integrated into living area and master suit for sheltered bathing from the exposed canal.

Car accommodation and work shop area was a must for the clients car collection with a generous media room for relaxation.

The guest suites private courtyard garden was a must for separation from the main body of the house. Outdoor living area was to be a must with a wide cover area opening back up in to the house keeping the integration between the area flowing freely

DESIGN ANALYSIS

The Site being in Hope Island Resort came under a tight bylaw control, floor space ratio’s and large setbacks had to be worked to.

The raised entry at the foyer with the high ceilings and 25 deg roof pitch has been done so that this single story home is not dwarf between the two storey home either side.

As the block is long and narrower at the rear, extra wide foyer and hallways that open up into other rooms and courtyards, take away it long appearance.

Double Garage with the side entry lessen the appearance of door to the front façade by featuring> the portico height and width with wide entry stair takes your eye away from the 3 car garaging.

DESIGN OUTCOME

The water view across the pool outside the master bedroom brings the Resort feel into the room with the butt glass corner windows opening up to the canal.

The Kitchen meals area becoming apart of the alfresco dining area with the large stacker door right back over looing the greenery of the rear canal area.

The use of louver window through out the home gives it a great air flow through out the layout with that real resort style feel that louver windows bring into the design.

The 3300mm ceiling in this design gives it such an open feeling, with 2700mm high windows brings the out door feel in to the home with the client just love.
